XTreme Shooting demonstrates basic rifle cleaning. First, remove the bolt. Then, put a bore guide to keep excess oils and debris from infiltrating the trigger. Next, oil a patch and push it all the way through the rifle. Repeat again, running the second patch back and forth through the rifle ten times. Then, run a nylon brush with cleaner through the rifle barrel ten times. Next, repeat the technique with a dry patch to gauge the cleanliness of the barrel. During the cleaning process you are also lubricating the rifle which will reduce the friction thereby reducing the wear. It will also reduce the barrel temperature allowing for more shots and longer wear. Then, lubricate and clean the bolt mechanism. Your rifle is now ready for the field.
