This video teaches the proper technique for draw filing an octagon barrel to prepare it for bluing. Hosted by Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, each step of the process, from removing dents to final polishing, is covered using a Winchester Model 1890 rifle. The process begins with the removal of dings and dents on the corners of each flat, by peening the areas with a steel punch. Once enough metal has been moved to raise the dent, a flat, smooth file is used to draw file the area. Once the draw filing is concluded, each flat is polished using consecutively finer grits of clothed backed abrasive to prepare it for bluing.
